About Bill Peresta
Bill Peresta grew up in rural Arkansas (half way between Sweet Home and Little Rock), where he attended public school and developed a taste for photography during the Ozzie & Harriet 50’s and then the turbulent 60’s.
He left his idyllic boyhood home, crossed the Mississippi River, and became a Rhodes Scholar (by virtue of attending what is now Rhodes College in Memphis, not the Oxford one in England).
Miraculously, he managed to graduate, receiving his B.A. with a double major in both Philosophy and Psychology, and later a B.S. in Computer Science from UALR. Beale Street, Elvis, Viet Nam, the Beatles, and Everything Happening in the 60’s shaped his world view.
Drifting for a few years, he finally found adventure and some satisfaction, working in the oilfields of the North Sea, off Aberdeen, Scotland and in the Persian Gulf, off Dubai, UAE. With a new camera and a ton of film, he set out to chronicle his travel and exploits.
He retired from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport, RI, where he worked for 30 years as a Computer Scientist, and Principle Investigator on several software engineering projects for the Dept. of the Navy.
Bill has traveled extensively over the years, camera in hand to record the events and sights around him. A practitioner of Transcendental Meditation (TM) since 1978, he enjoys creating photos that transcend the ordinary and evoke a basic, intuitive, heart felt response.
He enjoys collaborating with diverse people to accomplish memorable, meaningful, artistic, or just plain fun photos. Click on the Contact Bill button below to message Bill:
